It is nearly here...

The completed manuscript for my first book Mental Furniture is contained withing this plastic file.

The article you can see beneath the plastic is Brian Dillon's 2006 essay BANG What Can Photographs of Explosions Tell Us About the Nature of Photography. There will be no epigraph but if there was it would be taken from this essay.
Every photograph of an explosion ('of' is relative here: where or when does the thing really happen?) exists somewhere on the continuum between actuality and symbolism, the instant and its meaningful aftermath. It may be that we can only make sense of the wreckage, not the rupture.

Camarade Fest at The Rich Mix 26.10.13

Claire Potter Camarade Poetry

Live deliveries on the theme of trains, travel and foreskin with Marcus Slease at the Camarade Fest at the Rich Mix centre, London on the 26th of October.

100 poets align in 50 pairs, each writing an original collaborative work, written specifically for the festival and premiered on the day.
The 5th Camarade event, and the crescendo of the Enemies project’s first year, this ambitious exploration of the possibilities of collaboration in poetry will evidence the true width and depth of poetry that is happening now.
Marcus and I were also recorded for Ryan Van Winkle's next Scottish Poetry Library podcast. More on this as and when.

Typewriter Performance: Live Writing Content Unknown

These images document a performance of writing at the Bradford Baked Zines fair in Bradford, May 2013.

A typewritten text was sourced and produced on site using a manual typewriter for its particular form of inscription, affecting both textual construction and development. The performance took 'announcement' as its form of publication.

More information on Bradford Baked Zines and its curator Jean McEwan can be found here.
