Reading an extract from Mental Furniture
My first book Mental Furniture is due out early this summer with Very Small Kitchen press. The book is broken prose poetry and is replete with typographical errors and misspellings. Written on a typewriter by a protagonist writing through a mental breakdown, the author writes emphatically about Brendan Brady, a 'bad guy' from teen soap opera Hollyoaks; a despised and snot-abused image of a rabbit on their bedroom wallpaper; punching pigeons out of the sky; lying beneath fridge-freezers and in scalding hot baths, which is the chapter featured here.
